Five chances to become Delta Pet Partners.
Our first training class brought all the dogs together and we got to see how they would co-exist in a small space very close together. Could they continue to focus on their owners and what was expected of them or would they want to play or have difficulty being with the other dogs.
Would we find that they need to work alone and in a very specific environment or would they prove to be tolerant and flexible enough to work anywhere?
Would the owners be able to totally control and understand their dogs and anticipate any barking or uneasiness in their dogs?
Would the dogs do well with the child helping us or the medical equipment in the room?
Would the owners understand how they have to be vigilant at all times watching their dogs for safety sake, while at the same time appearing friendly and easy going and able to engage their clients?
Next step for these five teams is the Delta Workshop next week. This is without their dogs and they will learn all about how to work with the public, guide their dogs to success and interact with all varieties of people and situations. They will be able to learn from more experienced teams and take that knowledge to their own dogs.
