The very best therapy dogs love to work with other teams. They enjoy the canine and humane company and know that the more the merrier.

Some dogs are just not calm around other dogs, close together in a small space. But the dogs who make it to become Delta Pet Partners need to be non-reactive to all other animals.

Our Love Dog team works in groups all the time, whether reading with children at events open to the public, or going to schools we partner with or visiting in health facilities.

Some people are naturally drawn to the larger dogs while others want to cuddle the little ones.  So we make sure they all can work side by side with no barking or any other reactions.

 

Today’s event at the Library brought out more than 35 children and their parents and we had five dogs in the small reading room.  There was something for everyone – George, our very large Old English Sheepdog, Joop, the calmest Shih Tzu ever, Rocky, our senior Shepherd mix, Benny, the cuddliest dog ever and of course Kirby, ruling the roost from his stroller.

The children went dog to dog learning how to greet them safely and truly enjoyed learning about the different breeds and what makes each dog special.
