Isabel (AKA Izzi) is a beautiful dog. She has twinkly eyes, a wagging tail and loves nothing more than to have her belly rubbed.
Izzi started out with very little formal training but soon sailed through her obedience class and has the most dedicated owners.
She started her career as a therapy dog this week. Her first visit told us everything we needed to know about this little dog.
She walked through the dementia care / hospice slowly, letting everyone see her and understand that she may be a new dog. She does look, however like two other dogs who visit there – Benny and Lucy! So some people said Hi Lucy and some thought Benny was back, but Izzi took all this in stride.
Once we explained that Izzi was a new dog everyone wanted their turn greeting her and petting her very soft fur.
We had Izzi sit on “Kirby’s table” and she was very happy on her perch. She could see everyone and smiled every time the camera was in her direction.
Izzi and her mom Ellen were naturals with this population and will continue to visit there … Izzi has certainly found her niche.
