Reading is fun for some children, frustrating for others.
When you can read with your favorite Love Dog, everything seems easier.
The Reading Circles at RISE Educational Resource Center have been very successful and as we wind down for our summer break, let’s recap our best Adventures:
Children read stories about all the Love Dogs they meet
Children have their personal favorite dogs and spend quality time with them
Children learn how to relate to dogs and respect them
Children ease their way through stories and books with the help of their canine partners
Parents get to introduce their children to dogs in a safe manner
Parents watch as their children progress from level to level of book
Parents observe their children being kind and gentle and loving
Dogs get to do their favorite thing – be held and cuddled and cherished
Dogs show how they could be quiet and still and “listen”
Dogs give the children an hour of unconditional love and assistance
The Love Dogs will be at RISE one more Saturday, June 23 at 10:00 am, and then take July and August off. Reading Circles will resume in September.
During the summer children can continue to meet with “their” Love Dogs in the Everything Dog Class, which teaches children how to be responsible pet owners and how to view the world through the eyes of a dog – discussions include various breeds and their characteristics, how to choose the right dog for your family, basic tips for getting your dog off on the right foot in your home, “do dogs have feelings” and “everything dog.”
