The Love Dogs has adopted a second grade class in Las Vegas and our last day of school visits was yesterday. It was extremely bittersweet.
Five dogs and their owners came and the students were extremely excited to see their friends for a last visit of the year:
George, the gentle giant of an Old English Sheep dog who has taught the children about being shy and to be patient and kind and caring … even thought he is such a big dog
Benny, the baby of the group, who seems to never grow up. Beautiful, loving and spirited, Benny touches everyone’s hearts and is the most cuddly dog ever.
Maiya Joy, the tiniest dog, showed the children how size doesn’t matter and the smallest dog can have the biggest heart.
Gamby, on his first visit to school, definitely knows it won’t’ be his last. Everyone loved meeting a new dog on the last day and appreciated his gorgeous presence.
Kirby, who taught the children about adopting older dogs and living with special needs and how one small dog can be brave and teach compassion and gentleness. The children went through his several surgeries during the year and helped him heal and know he was greatly loved.
The children made such special gifts for us – cards to celebrate Kirby’s adoption day in May, and they all wrote what lessons they thought were the best of the curriculum. This will help us keep making the class better and better each year
This group of students will all move on to the third grade but we hope to see them passing in the halls or attending our other Love Dog events.
And we look forward to meeting new second grade students in the fall as the Love Dogs continues to teach, inspire and learn from this amazing class.
