The Love Dogs were invited to participate in RISE’s Open House for families who are home schooling their children. The purpose of the event was to discuss their class offerings and introduce the students to a variety of RISE programs.
In addition to providing information about our three classes, Everything Dog, Reading Circles and Good Dog 101 training, we set up a Reading Circle area and had several of our therapy teams on board to read with the children. Of course our table was the most popular because we had the dogs! Some of the children were meeting the dogs for the first time and some were old friends already.
Students who had attended our classes in the past were so happy when the dogs remembered them.
And we had fun trying to decide which dog has the longest tongue, Bailey or Kirby!
And deciding if Izzy looks better in her sunglasses or without!
Or whether Dash really can run thirty-five miles an hour when she seems to much prefer being still!
The Love Dogs were the first official partner of RISE and we are privileged to have programs that are expanding and serving a great niche for their students.
So many of the children have their own dogs and are learning how to be responsible pet owners and kind to all living beings.
We even met a young girl who was afraid of dogs but very soon was sitting and reading with the Love Dogs and actually petting them.
And keep in mind that students who go to public or private schools are also welcomed at RISE and it is the one place that brings together students from all areas of education in Las Vegas.
Thank you to Mary and Izzy, Kelly and Bailey and Leslie and Dash for being such a big part of the success of the day.
And Mr. Kirby – you were your always endearing self, even when you dozed off for a moment!
