Can you believe we have two Crickets in our Love Dog program?
This cricket was born in England thus named after the sport.
She is a Whippet and can run as fast as the wind. But when she is working as a Pet Partner therapy dog with her owner Michelle, she is as solid and calm as can be.
Michelle and Cricket arrived at the skilled nursing facility early so Cricket could walk around outside and become familiar. Then we began making the rounds and cricket surpassed all expectations for a first visit.
She was interested in everyone, quiet and calm and responsive to touch and sound. She even snuck in a few kisses on willing hands.
She is an unusual breed for most people so everyone was especially interested in why ‘she is so skinny!”
Several people told Michelle she should feed her dog more!
But this was the perfect opportunity to educate them about her breed and why she is so thin and muscular and how fast she can run.
Then they just couldn’t believe how relaxed and quiet she was!
This will be a weekly assignment for this new team and they have already made a wonderful impression on everyone.
Let’s congratulate Michelle and Cricket and wish them luck as they begin their therapy career.
