I was on my way to meet with Julian. Benny was in the car, ready to go to work.
Then we had an emergency. We knew we would not get to the Therapy Center in time.
Today we had invited Lisa and Boise to join our session. Julian has met Boise several times and they started to have a good rapport. But no one had ever gone to Julian’s sessions without my being there.
I usually prepare what we will do each time in advance and review it with his therapist.
Today’s plans involved teaching Benny a new behavior and walking the two dogs together.
I notified Julian’s mom and the Center that I would not be able to make it today. Then I called Lisa.
“Lisa, you and Boise will lead the session today!”
And they did great! Julian walked Boise, such a big dog, with the second leash and spent the hour learning more about him. He brushed Boise and stroked him and looked right at him. He even let the big dog come closer to him and sat near the dog’s face.
This is just one reason we love to work in teams. If someone can’t make it, you can always go to Plan B and today Lisa and Boise made us so proud.
The dream of Love Dogs was always to have several teams in place with all of our critical clients.
We are getting there!
