When I adopted Petey he was skinny and toothless.
Well, he’s still toothless but boy has he blossomed!
He has gained a pound and a half. That doesn’t sound like much but for a dog his size that is huge.
And his beautiful hair has grown out and is a light silver in spots.
He definitely has the cutest ears. They just spring out like Dumbo when he cocks his head.
And that tongue! Sometimes he just doesn’t know where to put it so it hangs out the side of his mouth.
Petey is the sweetest dog.
He only wants to climb in your lap and curl up in a ball.
Or lie next to you, so close he is touching you.
Or curl up in his car seat, so happy to be going somewhere.
He eats his soft food with gusto and drinks all his water, even though it seems like it takes forever for him to get it to stay in his mouth!
He cuddles up to his brother Benny and finds just the right soft spot to lie on.
Petey has learned to stay on his blanket, come when called, walk nicely on a loose leash, be held by many people and love everyone.
That part I did not have to teach him.
Petey came to me loving people and I do think he knows he has found his forever, last, home and has many years of love ahead of him.
Petey will make a superb Love Dog … soon!
