Love Dog Adventures therapy animal program is an affiliate of the national organization Pet Partners. To become a Love Dog team, you attend the Pet Partner Handler Workshop, complete your training hours with your animal and then you move forward to the 22-element Evaluation.

Once you pass the Evaluation you register with Pet Partners and start volunteering with the local Las Vegas team, Love Dog Adventures.

Then the real work begins!

Most students have already shadowed several types of facilities and programs without their animal prior to testing. This gives you a great idea of what is required in each type of setting and what would be the bets assignment for both ends of the leash.

Two new teams began their volunteerism this week and both did beautifully.

Lisa and Fergie loved being part of our class program and Fergie loved being read to. We hope they continue as part of this activity every other week through the school year. They also spent time at a residential care center and boy was Fergie popular!

This team hopes to be part of the Be Cool, Not Cruel anti-bully program as well as visiting at a health facility. Fergie is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and will be a very busy girl!

Our second new team is Mary and Josie. Josie is a beautiful Shih Tzu and wherever they go, people can relate to the breed. Josie started her therapy career at a residential facility and it was such a lovely visit. They also hope to become involved with one of our health partners.

Each team has several supervised visits with their Mentor and determine what is the best fit for the animal and handler alike.

We welcome these two new teams to the Love Dog roster and celebrate their journey.
