Spike is a very small dog but when he walks down the halls of the hospital he visits weekly, he is the biggest dog in town! For three years now Spike has lightened the spirit of children and their families, as well as the staff. Spike begins his visits in the playroom and then makes his rounds. When a nurse walked into a room he was in and said “Hi Spike”, the child in the bed was shocked…”You know Spike?” and the nurse replied “Everyone knows Spike – he is famous in the hospital!” Over the years Spike has encouraged children to sit up, reach out, walk and most of all, smile. It is not the size of the dog that makes a great therapy dog, it is the size of his heart. And Spike is a giant.
