What matters most

Today at one of our mental health facilities something special happened. Petey was sitting on my lap with several people around us. One gentleman however was further away and did not want to engage with us. But he kept looking Petey’s way. He looked and looked and Petey turned in his direction every time. Petey has very little sight but somehow he knew this man needed him to look his way. After a while a small, very small, smile appeared on the man’s face and Petey knew his job was done. If all we got this day was a brief smile, it was well worth the time spent waiting.
