Benny spent time with his favorite people today – his teenagers. There is something about this dog that so relates to them. I begin by putting him down in the middle of the circle of kids sitting on the floor. And wait. And watch. He walks around and settles in before one young person. He always seems to pick the one who needs him the most. And everyone else always seems to understand why he begins with this person.
Then he is happy to meet everyone else. But the ritual is important to the little dog and important to the kids to see who he chooses each visit. The others are never jealous but compassionate and this begins the conversation about what he perceives.
